Meaning of Martin Luther King Jr. Day?
The Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday celebrates the life and legacy of a man who fought for hope and healing in America. We honor him as well the timeless values he taught us through his example the moral values such as: courage, truth, justice, compassion, dignity, humility and service that so radiantly defined Dr. King’s character, power, and leadership. We honor Dr. King’s words, love, forgiveness and non-violence that give his spirit strength. King knew he had to do more than talk the talk he knew had had to walk the walk. Dr. King had a 17 minute long speech and apart of that speech he said, “I have a dream that one day, down in Alabama, with its vicious racists, with its governor having his lips dripping with the words of interposition and nullification; one day right there in Alabama, little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers.” And his dream came true.
