CUSD Drama Festival
CUSD Drama Festival
Last Thursday, February 23, a selective group of actors, singer, dancers, and comedians traveled to Clovis North for the annual CUSD Drama Festival. Clovis East’s drama teacher, Mr. Stump, and dance teacher, Mrs. Karsevar, traveled along with their students to see the amazing performances by Clovis East, and other Clovis Unified schools.
Clovis East was represented by their hilarious improv team, Comic Relief, three musical numbers, three monologues, and two two person scenes. The musical numbers were pieces from our school’s very own upcoming musical, Smokey Joe’s Café, which premiers at the end of March. Everyone did a fantastic job, and got to see the amazing performances by the other schools.
“On Broadway,” one of Clovis East’s musical numbers, sung and danced by John Wilson, Truly Vang, Zach Christopherson, and Mason Stump, took first place in their category! They received a command award, which entitled them to perform their number again for the entire audience. Their score was perfect; 50 points out of 50. Congratulations! The four proud students received trophies to show for their hard work, dedication, and fabulous singing abilities.
Mr. Stump and Mrs. Karsevar are very proud of their students work. If you are interested in being in dance, drama, or joining the improv team, contact Mr. Stump and Mrs. Karsevar for more information.
