Reader Management System
How to use the Reader Management System
The Reader Management System is an optional feature provided with our Gold level service.
There are three (3) levels of user in the Reader Management System: 1) Administrator; 2) Unapproved Reader; 3) Approved Reader.
A Reader may be either Activated or Not Activated.
A user with Administrator permissions can activate, approve and delete readers.
What a Reader Will See on Your Site
When a Reader visits your site, they will see one of the three following messages in the Search Box on the right hand side of your site:
1) If not logged in or not registered, a prompt will be shown for the Reader to either Login or Register;

2) If already logged and approved: a welcome message and link by which to logout of the Reader Management System;

3) If registered but not yet approved, a third message will appear for those who have registered but have not yet been approved indicating their account is pending approval.
How Users Register for a Reader Account:
1) First, the Reader needs to click the Register Link as shown above in Image 1;
2) The Reader will then be taken to a page with the following registration form;

3) Upon completing the registration form, the Reader will then recieve an email similar to the one shown below in Image 4;

4) The Reader must then click the Activation link in their email;
5) Before the Reader can access articles, their User Level must first be changed from "New Request" to Reader by an administrator;
A newly registered reader that has not yet been activated will look like the following:
After the user has activated their account by clicking the activation link in their email, their record will look like:
Reader Level should not be changed from "New Request" to "Reader" until they have activated their account to ensure they have provided a vaild email and are not a spammer.
Clicking Login will bring a Reader to a page with the following Login form.

From this page a Reader can login to an existing account, register or reset a forgotten password.
A normal reader upon successful login will be taken to the home page of your student news site.
What an Administrator Sees After Login
An administrator upon successful login will be taken to a Reader Management page as show below in Image 5:

From the page shown above in Image 6, an administrator can manage users by changing information such as their Active Status, their Level or delete their accounts. An Administrator can also click the Published Home link to the left to get to your student news site home page.
